Sheikh Rehana is the youngest daughter of Bangobondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Sheikh Rehana from Bangladesh is the youngest daughter of the late President of Bangladesh Bangobondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Rehana was visiting Germany with her sister Sheikh Hasina on August 15, 1975, and therefore survived the killing of most of her family and of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in an army coup. She later went to the United Kingdom, where she was granted political asylum.

In 2007-08, while Sheikh Hasina was imprisoned under the emergency rule of Fakhruddin Ahmed's caretaker government, Rehana organized the Awami League secretly on Hasina's behalf. The Awami League won the 2008 election, appointing Sheikh Hasina Prime Minister; Rehana then returned to Bangladesh and started assisting her sister in her official duties.
